Get to know Maddie Garrett

Just over three months ago we welcomed Maddie Garrett to the agency – here’s 13 Q&A to find out a little bit more about our newest member of the account team.

Tell us about your role at FMI?

I am an Account Executive at FMI, and I’ve been here for 3 months now! My role involves managing client relationships, implementing engagement programs, generating content across channels, helping source venues for events, as well as organising logistics.

What clients do you work with?

I get to work with a range of clients including Lexmark, Three, Aqualisa, HONOR and Aldermore. Each of these clients brings a unique challenge with different products and programmes. It’s been great to see the accounts develop and improve as we work together longer.

Tell us about a campaign or project that’s been really memorable/successful?

One project that stood out was a 6-week campaign for the Samsung Galaxy Flip6 & Fold6. I created 2 posts for a Facebook Group with over 1,000 call centre employees. Members were rewarded for engagement such as comments, likes and polls – it was amazing to see how involved users got with posts. I read every single comment and I was able to reward those who put real thought into their responses. I did a few posts about Samsungs partnership with the Olympics and seeing the phone throughout the games was a nice full-circle moment.

What did you study at university/college?

I studied Marketing at University, which has been super relevant to my role at FMI. It helped me understand the fundamentals of customer behaviour, content writing, branding and running campaigns. Beyond that university also taught me key soft skills such as time management, prioritisation and it boosted my confidence, especially when it comes to client interactions.

How did you discover FMI?

I discovered FMI through a LinkedIn job advert, the role immediately stood out to me. I was drawn to the variety of services we provide clients and the personable feel of the company.

Where do you see FMI being in the next five years?

In the next 5 years, I see FMI continuing to grow and expand its client base across industries. I hope that we continue to support our existing clients, integrating into their team and supporting them on further services from engagement all the way through to events. I think we will be known for delivering personalised, creative solutions.

What’s the FMI team like?

The team is great, everyone brings their own unique strengths and I like how we combine these to help us work together to achieve a common goal.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, I have 2 dogs, Bob and Zeddy. Bob is the boss of the house.

What job did you want to do when you were little?

When I was younger, I wanted to be an Interior Designer. I always loved rearranging the furniture around in my room and seeing how it changed the feel of the space. I have always been creative and interested in how design effects people differently.

What was your first car?

It was a Vauxhall Corsa, I had her for 6 years and recently upgraded, we had some great times and she was very reliable.

Where are you most likely to be found outside of work?

You’ll find me catching up with friends, whether we’re out for dinner or at the pub. Many of my friends are spread across the UK now, so I spend a lot of weekends traveling to see them and making the most of our time together.

How do you take your brew?

A spoonful of sugar and splash of milk and time to let it infuse. A tea meditation.

What was your first job?

My first job was in the café at Waitrose. It was fast-paced, and I loved interacting with customers. It’s also where I learned how to make coffee art—a fun skill I still have!
