Get to know Emilia Richards

Over two months ago we welcomed Emilia Richards to the agency – here’s 13 Q&A to find out a little bit more about our newest member of the account team.

Tell us about your role at FMI?

My official job title is Account Executive which means that my key role is to help our clients with any brand engagement requirements or needs that they may have. I have worked at FMI for around three months and am growing my own client relationships through regular contact but I am still a bit of a “newbie” and continually learning the ropes.

What clients do you work with?

I have started working with bp, SquareTrade and Kubota, the latter is a new client contact and I am excited to get started along with them!  All said I tend to provide support with different tasks, wherever and whenever it is needed on other accounts to support my colleagues.

Tell us about a campaign or project that’s been really memorable/successful?

I think this would be my first live event with an automotive client at a recent Training Week, it was 4 long, busy days, but I learnt so much. A week-long event seems to be at the larger end of events that we deliver as an agency. I had so much fun working with a different part of the event team and getting to know them. Events are so rewarding especially when the clients are happy. So, I am excited and keen to attend more and get really involved in the events side of my role. I love chatting to people and getting to know them and understand their needs, especially when it relates to clients.

What did you study at university/college?

At university I studied Business Management and Entrepreneurship. During university I learnt a lot about how the business environment works but it is still very different to when you are working in the real world of business. I have digested more from working part-time at university, where I held various client facing roles, than perhaps I did in my degree. But a degree teaches more intangible skills such as responsibility, time management and dedication, which is great knowledge to add to my growing experience.

How did you discover FMI?

I discovered FMI through my networks and word of mouth, in particular LinkedIn. Some of my family know and work closely with FMI and saw that they were hiring, they mentioned it to me, and I applied for the job as I saw it was in an exciting growth sector, that really interested me.

Where do you see FMI being in the next five years?

I believe FMI will be highly successful, with a growing team and expanding client portfolio and I would like to play a key part in that growth and success story, if I am able to. I feel with FMI’s work ethic and drive, it is only going to result in a positive future for the company and I am excited to be here as it inevitably expands to greater heights.

What’s the FMI team like?

Everyone is very friendly and I love going into the office to chat, work and catch up. It is great having such a supportive team around me, especially when it’s your first “proper” job from university it can be daunting, but the FMI team has made this transition very smooth for me. I also have to say they are very patient because university doesn’t teach you everything, so I have learnt a lot from everyone at FMI, in the short time I have been here. I am excited to see what the future has in store.

Do you have any pets?

A hamster called Biscuit and a cat called Max, I have to keep them separate for obvious reasons…

What job did you want to do when you were little?

At one point I wanted to be a singer, but I quickly realised that wasn’t as achievable as I would like, despite the recorded videos at the time, my parents and sisters continue to tease me about.

What was your first car?

A VW polo – it is my baby, but she’s had a recent scrape in Sainsbury’s not that it was my fault!

Where are you most likely to be found outside of work?

Shopping, reading, I am now back in the gym training as well or on holiday or out with my friends. Just a classic 21-year-old I suppose, apart from I love a night in with a good book or film.

How do you take your brew?

A splash of milk and no sugar. A good strong builder’s tea, as it tends to be described, just how I like it!

What was your first job?

Well, I suppose this is my first full-time job, however I have had lots of part-time roles when I was younger, I love being busy. My first real job was working in the village pub for all of 3 months and I didn’t enjoy it – too many wrong orders and I dropped too many plates or so I am told.
