Driving smartphone sales by engaging store staff in the ‘final mile’ of the customer journey


To help assist with the launch of the new flagship Huawei P9 handset into the UK market, Huawei had a brief for an online trade engagement portal to assist with product training, knowledge and communication with retail sales staff within all major mobile phone channels.

The Huawei n:gaged site was designed to balance user education with opportunity for user rewards. Regular monthly product quizzes supplemented by tactical campaigns and weekly social media activities provided users with opportunities each month to win fantastic prizes in return for their engagement with both specific products and the Huawei brand in general.

Huawei n:gaged launched into channel towards the end of April 2016 with both online and offline communications, including printed launch packs and a bespoke email campaign. The launch was also in conjunction with a hugely successful and popular P9 call centre roadshow which helped drive registrations.

Towards the end of 2016 Huawei n:gaged was voted Best Manufacturer Training Portal at the iSellMobile Awards which was a huge achievement for a programme only 6 months into its journey. By Christmas the number of registered users had passed the tens of thousands mark.
